Welcome to my page! As a mother of three, I earned a degree in business informatics, but in my everyday life I focus much more on tangible, creative activities. It is especially important to me to preserve and pass on traditional handicraft techniques – which is why I love basket weaving and teaching others about it.
Our “Family Workshop”
Together with my husband, we strive to reconnect with nature. We both work in the field of informatics, but in our free time we don’t mind getting a little dirty: we garden, do DIY projects on our own, and he also enjoys woodworking. We are overjoyed that we can involve our children in this colorful, nature-connected world.
The Rebirth of a 250-Year-Old Peasant House
A few years ago, we discovered a beautiful but rather dilapidated peasant house in the Bakony region, built as far back as the era of Petőfi. The walls were damp and the building uninhabitable, but we weren’t deterred – we took on the renovation by ourselves. It took about a year to restore the house in an authentic manner, and now it serves as a true haven during our weekends and free time. This great adventure was an unforgettable experience for all of us, and we are proud to have preserved a piece of the past.
Respect and Learning from the Elders
I hold it dear to my heart that we do not forget the ancient crafts of previous generations. Whenever possible, I listen to the basket weavers and craftsmen of old, and whenever I can, I learn from them as well. Additionally, I draw great inspiration from other countries and cultures, as I speak several languages, making it easier to connect with others.
Traditional Basket Weaving and Workshop Crafts
I don’t see basket weaving merely as a craft – rather, I view it as a heritage that I strive to pass on to younger generations. I dedicate the income from my workshops and basket sales primarily to this cause of preserving tradition. The greatest joy for me is seeing others approach this folk craft with enthusiasm and openness, so that together we can preserve its magic for the future.
